Sonprayag to Gaurikand then Kedarnath

The yatra (trek) starts from over there. The distance from Gaurikund to the holy Kedarnath temple is exact 16 km which is easy initially but becomes steep, uphill and tough as it progresses.

For old people or pilgrims who are diagnosed with issues which unables them to walk the steep 16 kms trek which is not at all easy instead harsh with not so good roads there are other options to travel as well like horses and pony hire in Kedarnath, palanquins hire in Kedarnath. Considering the length and toughness of the trek, they come equipped with a good deal. There are water and food facilities along with washroom facilities are available throughout the trek and their prices increases as you go further.

It generally takes 6-7 hours to reach to the Kedarnath temple given you are in good shape and are having good stamina. Once you reached the temple you will have to wait for your turn in the long queue waiting in front of you. It will take you another 3-4 hours to enter the temple and praise the lord. After that you are free to enjoy the natural enchantments and mysterious weather at the Kedarnath premises. Make sure you get some quality rest before the next day's downhill trek.
